The Purpose of this Resource

High-quality health records are critical to the provision of safe, effective and personalised patient care. They facilitate good communication with other healthcare providers, and are linked to practice accreditation and incentive programs. Despite this, maintaining health records is not always considered a priority for busy general practices.

This education kit can be used by general practitioners (GPs) and general practice team members to learn more about the features of high-quality health records, the importance of coding essential clinical data, and strategies for the effective use of GP clinical information systems.

GPs can self-report this activity for the equivalent of 2 RACGP CPD points per hour of learning.
